12th January 2011 - "Am I... Naked?" @ 'Resolution!' - The Place
'Unsure of herself, the performer trembles. The lights and the heat, and a thousand stares come crashing down. Through eyes tightly shut, she must overcome the din of voices and remember what it was that first compelled her to dance.'
"Am I... Naked?" returns to the stage in a new form, as weird as ever. Featuring a piano, some drums, and a cast of egomaniacs and narcissists.
Choreographer - Jennifer Fletcher / Musical Director/Percussion - Christopher Preece / Dancers - Hrafnhildur Einarsdottir, Alexandrina Hemsley, Fernanda Munoz-Newsome, Helena Webb / Piano, Steve Pringle.
12th January - 6th February - Aya Theatre Presents "Kaspar" by Peter Handke
We are delighted to announce a collaboration bringing the movement aesthetic of Dreckly to Aya Theatre in their production of Kaspar at Arch 6, Burrell St.
Inspired by the legend of Kaspar Hauser, this is a play about an absurd man formed and deformed through his violent exposure to the language of our society - the language of adspeak, corporate phrases and sports platitudes.
In Handke's remarkably inventive piece, ideas about received speech, conformism and the corruption of the individual are exploded into bizarre and fascinating vocal rhythms and stage images.
20th/21st Nov - "Always Have Paris" @ 'Curiouser and Curiouser' - Old Vic Tunnels
Dreckly are bringing our unique collaborative perspective to Submit2Gravity's extraordinary event, in the form of our new piece, "Always Have Paris". We are also delighted and fortunate to be working with composer Jamie Hamilton and Costume Designer Isabel Munoz-Newsome.
Choreographer - Jennifer Fletcher / Musical Director - Christopher Preece / Composer - Jamie Hamilton / Costume Designer - Isabel Munoz-Newsome / Dancers: Kassie Starkey, Hannah Brown, Fernanda Munoz-Newsome / Musicians - Christopher Preece, Steve Pringle, Jude Tedaldi
"If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense. Nothing would be what it is, because everything would be what it isn't. And contrary wise, what is, it wouldn't be. And what it wouldn't be, it would. You see?"
This event will bring together an extraordinary, innovative and diverse range of art forms with dramatic and suprising results. Kinetic sculptures, interactive installation, visual and sound pieces and theatre groups will all interact within this unique setting to create a strange wonderland of curiosities.
Dreckly Productions are thrilled to perform at Curiouser and Curiouser, see the website for details - get your tickets quick!
August - October 2009 - 'Am I... Naked' @ Edinburgh Fringe 2009
Dreckly's first piece was a 40 minute devised dance theatre piece for the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Performed eight times at C Venues, the piece was a different incarnation to the 2011 piece, but drew from the same material - invoking themes of vulnerability, performance anxiety, pretention, nakedness and cooperation. The score was partially improvised and featured an ambitious onstage setup, including loops, samples, and both acoustic and electronic instruments. Gareth K Vile, who reviewed the piece in the Shimmy Skinny, said "the quality of technique and imagination is impressive", and also "the willingness to to ask questions, without imposing answers, hints at a bright future." The piece was also performed at the FastForward Dance platform at the Roland Lewinsky Theatre, Plymouth. You can find videos and pictures of this piece in our gallery, and download the review in the press section.
